How to Use the Same Whatsapp Account on Two Phones
Do you want to be able to use the same WhatsApp account on two separate phones without having to log out of the first? Here’s how to do it.
So you want to use two phones to access the same WhatsApp account?
You can’t (yet) technically: The WhatsApp FAQs state, “There is no way to have a WhatsApp account with two phone numbers”a useless response if you have a second phone but don’t want to deactivate WhatsApp on your first.
This functionality may be coming soon, since WhatsApp has just opened up a beta multi-device feature for everyone to check out. In the beginning, you’ll only be able to connect WhatsApp Web, WhatsApp Desktop, and WhatsApp Portal to your account. But because WhatsApp is working on a way to log out, we think we’ll be able to connect many phones in the future.
Meanwhile, there is a fairly easy workaround for getting WhatsApp to function on two phones at the same time. WhatsApp Web is the answer, and although you won’t be able to use the WhatsApp app on both phones, you will be able to access the same account from other devices using a browser. Here’s how to do it:
Open your second phone’s browser and go to WhatsApp Web (web.whatsapp.com).
Switch to Desktop View in Settings (three dots in the upper right corner), which should lead you to a page containing a QR code.
(If you’re sent to the WhatsApp desktop site, just click “WhatsApp Web” in the upper left corner.)
On your first phone, open the WhatsApp app and click on Settings > General. Go to WhatsApp Web and select Link Device.
Use your second phone to scan the QR code.
Both phones should now be able to use WhatsApp.
